How do we build mental representations of what we read? How are connections made between sentences? How do we “read between the lines”? These are some of the primary questions that we try to answer in the Language Processing Lab, which is directed by Bill Levine at the University of Arkansas. We use behavioral measures like reading time, eye-tracking, and reaction times to try to understand what skilled adult readers are doing while they read. Please click the tabs above to explore some of our research projects and papers, to learn about the people who do this research, and to learn how to join the lab. Contact Bill Levine with any questions. (Instructions on how to apply to the experimental psychology PhD program are available here.)
