A+ At a Glance
Arkansas A+ Schools is a research-based whole-school network with a mission of nurturing creativity in every learner through an arts-integrated network.
A+ Schools combine interdisciplinary teaching and daily arts instruction, offering students opportunities to develop creative, innovative ways of thinking, learning and demonstrating knowledge. In Arkansas A+ schools, teaching the state’s mandated curriculum involves a collaborative, multi-disciplined approach with the arts — dance/movement, theater, music, creative writing and visual arts — continuously woven into every aspect of a child’s learning.
Arkansas A+ Schools provides schools with ongoing professional development, an intricate network of support, and an active research component. We coach schools through a process to create an educational environment that excites students about learning and produces better achievement. We do this by preparing teachers and principals to think more creatively about how to present their curriculum in collaborative hands-on ways.
Arkansas A+ Schools Provides Three Resources to Member Schools
Arkansas A+ Schools provides professional retreats and ongoing, on-site professional development to member schools. AR A+ helps create a collaborative teaching environment that reinforces each child’s ability to learn and be successful, regardless of the environment in which the school exists.AR A+ uses research teams to provide feedback on the effect of our practices on the schools and their students’ outcomes.
The network shares practices, findings, connections and partnerships that support the goals of the school. Network members include essential collaborating partners within the higher education, community, government and businesses industries who will help to extend creative learning across the state, the nation and the world.
Researchers work with AR A+ to provide data and evidence that guide programming improvements including the development of tools to help a school self-assess their progress and identify areas of need that are then addressed with on-site customized professional development.
