Arkansas A+ Schools engages school communities in transformative experiences through ongoing professional development opportunities during a three year implementation process. Joining the ARA+ network requires a significant time and resource commitment from a school’s entire staff in order to achieve whole school transformation. Interested schools should follow this 5-step application process prior to applying to join the ARA+ network.
We will select 5 schools to join the ARA+ network every year.
The due date for applications to join the 2018-2019 network is Friday, February 9, 2018.
Begin your investigation into what ARA+ can do for your school community. Explore this website, and contact us if you have additional questions. We can travel to your school to meet with your superintendent, principal, and interested staff members.
If you are interested in applying to the Arkansas A+ Schools network, please proceed to step two.
If you are interested in applying for the 2020-2021 ARA+ network, please fill out a letter of interest. This letter serves as an invitation to a Pre-Application Session detailed in step three. Please submit your letter of interest by Friday, January 3, 2020.
Send two teams to attend both the Pre-Application Session I and Session II. These sessions are designed to provide attendees with an A+ experience and discuss what membership in the network will require.
Pre-Application Session I
Send a team consisting of the school principal and 4-6 school staff members. Please attend the Pre-Application Session I scheduled for:
January 23, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 pm
Pre-Application Session II
Send a team consisting of the school principal and 4-6 different school staff members.
February 7, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 pm
Both Sessions will be held at the UA-Pulaski Tech North Little Rock Campus (3000 W. Scenic Rd Building A, North Little Rock AR 72118)
Share the information that you learned about ARA+ at the Pre-Application Sessions with your school. Then, survey your school staff and secure a minimum of 85 percent faculty approval to join the AR A+ network. The Pre-Application Session is designed to assist you in gaining faculty approval. ARA+ can also coordinate site visits to A+ schools for principals and interested teachers.
Once your school has secured 85 percent staff approval, you may complete and submit the final application by the due date.
Final application due date: Friday, February 21, 2020
Arkansas A+ Schools is assisted by a selection committee made up of individuals representing ARA+ Schools and the National A+ Schools Consortium (NASC). The ARA+ Selection Committee will review all completed applications and select schools to join the network based upon leadership, passion for the project, evidence of collaboration, evidence of commitment, opportunity for the school, geographic location, representation of the AR population and a sense of community.
The ARA+ staff will notify selected schools with a formal invitation to join the ARA+ network by Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
The number of schools accepted is determined by the quality of the applications and the resources of ARA+ Schools to effectively meet the needs of schools added to the network.
Schools that are not accepted are encouraged to continue communication with ARA+ to request assistance in applying in a future year.
