Thank you to the Students, Judges, Mentors, Technical Workshop Leaders, Speakers, Sponsors, and Executive Board members for making the 2022 RZRblock Hackathon a huge success!
The Blockchain Center of Excellence hosted the fifth annual blockchain hackathon for students learning about blockchain technology at the Walton College of Business. The hackathon was a free, month-long competition offering an in-person track for U of A students, as well as an open remote track.
A total of 25 teams participated in the hackathon. Teams engaged with industry professionals to build solutions for real-world, blockchain-enabled use cases. There were over 50 mentors, 125 participants, and 11 judges who participated in the 2022 RZRblock Hackathon.
Brian Dixon, COO of Off-the-Chain Capital and Bram Cohen, CEO of Chia Network and Founder of Bittorrent, were the keynote speakers for this year’s Blockchain Hackathon Kick-off and Final Pitch events.
The use cases were created and pitched by organizational partners like VeriTex, the WholeHealth Institute, Bchainify, ArtVentures, Downtown Bentonville Inc., Bloomz Art House Collective, QLytix, Mycelium Networks, Center for Creators, The Northwest Arkansas Council, and the Muinin Corporation.
The Blockchain Center of Excellence awarded over $25,000 estimated value for the winning teams in the Hackathon in the form of cash prizes, Bentonville Ledger memberships, and NFTs. Sponsors for this year’s hackathon include VeriTex, GoKey Network, Simba Chain, and Canza Finance.
This event was also made possible the the support of the Blockchain Center of Excellence Executive Advisory Board member companies. Those include: ArcBest, Accenture, EY, FedEx, FIS, GSF, IBM, JB Hunt, McKesson, Microsoft ,Tyson and Walmart.
