This project will explore the validity of alternative measures of non-cognitive skills such as perseverance, grit, and conscientiousness, and study their role in mediating the relationship between students’ college readiness levels and students’ success. We will also study how college expectations during freshman year relate to non-cognitive skills and college success. Results from this research project would be useful in identifying those groups that appear more vulnerable and struggle to graduate college, and inform the design of potential interventions to help these students.
