OCD: Moliones, the twin sons of Molione and Actor, her mortal husband. In Homer (Iliad 11.750-3) they are sons of Poseidon (or born from a silver egg. Ibyc. fr. 4 Page). They were ‘Siamese twins’ in Hesiod (fr. 17 M-W); at Iliad 2.621 they are named Creatus and Eurytus, are married, and have sons. In Homer they fight Nestor, elsewhere they fight Heracles and killed by him at Cleonae, where Pausanias (2.15.1) saw their tomb. ‘Siamese twins’ appear on vases and fibulae of the second half of the 8th and early 7th cents. BC, and the 6th cent. throne of Amyclae (Paus. 3.18.5). Their identification as the Molione is disputed: they may rather be inseparable twins or sworn brothers.
