As you may know, we started the math circle as a way to give our own kids an interesting, social math environment and present math topics outside of the usual classroom curriculum. Our kids are getting older and so we’re changing the targeted age group accordingly. For the next few years, we’re going to say that that includes kids in grades 5-9, or roughly ages 10-15. Kids of all ages are still welcome at meetings, but we’ll start assuming more background, more critical thinking skills and a little more independence.

(If you have younger kids and are interested in setting up a circle focusing on kids of elementary age, please let me know. We have access to an extraordinary number of resources here at UA.)
