Saturday, March 1, 2014 will be the next meeting of the Fayetteville Math Circle. We’ll again meet at the Fayetteville Public Library at 2pm.

This time come to the math circle wearing your visual/spatial thinking caps. We will be looking at the idea of area and how we can intuitively calculate it, fitting shapes together and seeing the different patterns they can make. These questions lie at the heart of geometry and still motivate mathematical questions today, yet we can approach them with basic shapes, paper and scissors. Dr. Dan Rutherford of the University of Arkansas will lead the discussion.
