In October, we discussed some of the strategies one might use for determined games, like tic-tac-toe, checkers, chess, or go. This month, we’ll take a look at games of chance, games where the outcome involves some kind of randomness. Some kinds of randomness are physical. They involce cards, or dice, or a flip of a coin. Some kinds of randomness have to do with an imperfect set of information; such as observing whether Amazon’s stock went up or down. It turns out, both kinds of randomness can be understood using the same mathematics. We’ll talk about reward (or loss), strategy and probability.

Also, if you played Hex during the month and have some insights, bring them!

We’ll meet Saturday, November 5th at 2pm at the Fayetteville Public Library
