OUR MISSION

The Resilient Informational and Operational Technologies Lab (RIOT) at the University of Arkansas focuses on advancing cybersecurity for critical infrastructure through innovative research in embedded system design, FPGA technology, and power electronics. Our mission is to develop robust solutions that enhance the resilience of industrial systems against cyber threats. We collaborate closely with industry and governmental partners, prioritize mentorship in student organizations, and engage in K-12 outreach to foster the next generation of cybersecurity leaders.

RIOT Lab was established in 2023 and is located at the National Center for Reliable Electric Power Transmission (NCREPT). NCREPT is a 12,000 square foot, $5M, national-caliber power electronic test facility with three 2 MVA distribution-level test circuits. This medium voltage test facility is capable of 3-phase test circuit regeneration at the 2 MVA level at 480 V, 4.16 kV and 13.8kV. This lab hosts a number of professors, PhD students, graduate students, and undergraduate students.
