Jordan Gershon is a junior in Communication department. In fall 2017, she is enrolled in Nonprofit Fundraising (COMM 3983). This service learning course is taught by Dr. Sara Bishop, a University of Arkansas lecturer who has been passionately teaching courses on issues that represent the very heart of public life and civic engagement. Jordan found this class online when she was browsing for classes to take for the fall. Now she is very excited with this class.
“I love this current class I’m taking! It’s so cool to be around other people who have an interest in the nonprofit sector. I love how specific this class is! We get into all of the aspects of a nonprofit and we are actually going to get to help a local nonprofit organization which is different from regular classes!”
Jordan has taken a couple of classes that have required a project that has counted for service learning credit. She knows she wants to work in the nonprofit world in the future. She has also had internship experience with nonprofits. Therefore, when she found a special topics class for nonprofit fundraising, she decided to take it because she wanted to better her skills. This class is in partnership with WelcomeHealth NWA.
