Meet Professor Carol Agana! She is the faculty in the Department of Nursing. In summer 2018, coordinating with Study Abroad program, she will be supervising NURS 4613: Professional Role Implementation VII: Role Synthesis in Ghana.

This course is the same as the in-country course. The only difference is the type of interventions students will be performing, and they are based on the assessment of needs in that country. Students will be learning about how health care is provided in this remote area of Ghana, and the students will be focusing on the needs and teaching villagers how to assess their own health condition and how they can impact their own health. This is not a medical mission.

The two clinical sites include AFRIKIDS which is a UK funded health care agency and Amiah Hospital. Dr. Aduko Amiah owns and runs this clinic/hospital. Collaborations with these two agencies were established summer 2018 with her first Study Abroad group of nursing students. It is mutually beneficial and both agencies desire that this program continue.
