Documentary Screening: Growing Cities
On July 18 at 12:30 pm the library in partnership with Feed Fayetteville will host a screening of the film Growing Cities, which shows how urban farming can not only provide nutritious food but also strengthen a flagging community. The film documents a trip taken by filmmakers Dan Susman and Andrew Monbouquette to study pockets of urban farming that have appeared in cities all over the U.S., including Atlanta, Detroit, Austin, Seattle and New York City. The farmers interviewed for the film explain how urban agriculture re-imagines how existing land is used, and in the process can revitalize both the appearance and the population of a neighborhood.
Bring a brown bag lunch and enjoy the film and a panel discussion afterward. Drinks will be provided.
