Volunteer Opportunities
Game Day Challenge Recycling
Last year nearly 83% of all game day waste at Razorback Stadium was diverted from landfills. The University of Arkansas placed 8th in the nation and first in the SEC during the Environmental Protection Agency’s Game Day Challenge. The friendly competition is a great way to advance sustainability measures that directly affect our campus. Help us become the first college in the SEC to reach zero waste by volunteering on game day.
Lee Creek/Devil’s Den Cleanup
Please join the Boston Mountain Solid Waste District, Devil’s Den State Park, and many other local community organizations and sponsors for the 2014 Lee Creek Cleanup. This Great Arkansas Cleanup event, in partnership with the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission, will remove litter and trash from Lee Creek within Devil’s Den State Park. Not only will you take part in beautifying this important stream, the park, trails, and natural areas, but you will also help protect and sustain clean water in Lee Creek, which eventually supplies water to the City of Fort Smith. Please join us on September 6th to help keep pollution out of Lee Creek and Devil’s Den.

People’s Climate March
In September, world leaders are coming to New York City for a UN summit on the climate crisis. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is urging governments to support an ambitious global agreement to dramatically reduce global warming pollution.
More than 700 organizations are convening the largest climate march in history. Many trains and more than 400 buses are expected from across the country, and one of those is from Arkansas.
If you are interested in being part of this trip or helping in other ways, you can find more information here.
Job & Internship Opportunities
Fayetteville Farmers Market Cooperative
The Fayetteville Farmers Market is looking for an intern to assist with a new farmers’ market cooperative they are piloting. The farmers’ market is aggregating produce from their vendors to supply to the Fayetteville Public school. Most of the growers at the market are too small to provide individual orders to the school so the farmers’ market is testing an aggregation system.
