The Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry is a program of the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) at the University of Arkansas and has been serving the campus community through food assistance for students, staff and faculty since 2011. As part of its efforts to better serve the student community, a recent student survey is underway.

The survey, named the UofA Student Food Security/Insecurity Survey, asks students about their perceptions and experiences with access to food and resource availability on and off campus. The ongoing survey started early November with an initial survey invitation sent to a random sample among the student community to take a survey. Participants completing surveys are entered into a drawing for many gift cards worth $25. The study aims to learn about difficulty in accessing food on a regular basis and also about obstacles in accesses to food related resources.

The survey will help improve and expand the services provided by the Center for Community Engagement to students at this University. With the holidays just around the corner, the Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry and the Razorback Food Recovery Program at the Center for Community Engagement are working to assist in reducing food waste and to provide food resource assistance to the campus community as well as other agencies providing hunger relief this holiday season.
