The OCS received some interesting news from Aaron D. Englan this morning about bottled water and bottle refilling stations in Pomfret Hall.
We have installed the Elkay bottle filling station at Pomfret B tower. It has a counter that tells you how many bottles you have kept out of the landfill. We have two more ordered for NW Quad and Pomfret D. We have received excellent feedback from our residents. Bob Echols at Missouri State has installed these on their campus. Jeff and I visited MSU back in September and installed one at Pomfret over Christmas break. As of today the counter is over 4000.
4,000 bottles since December 2011! WOOHOO!
This is great news! Students are saving money, the UA is reducing its waste stream and greenhouse gas emissions, and people are happier! It’s too perfect. It’s even better that these filling stations are going in more locations across campus.
