Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Campus-wide Meal Packing Party to Help End Hunger in NW Arkansas

All students, staff and faculty are invited to help us reach our goal of packing 17,000 meals to help end hunger in NW Arkansas.

The Pack Shack, in conjunction with the U of A’s Council of Religious Organizations, will bring nutritious ingredients that volunteers will “pack” into stay-fresh containers. Through the generosity of a variety of donors, The Pack Shack will provide enough food for at least 17,000 meals, which will be given to the following area food pantries: Full Circle Food Pantry, Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club, Life Source, and Samaritan Community Center.

Now we just need YOU to help us pack it all up! We’ll be in the Arkansas Union’s Connections Lounge from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., but we encourage you to follow this link to designate a time you would be available to help: http://goo.gl/forms/3C6gtyJbYX. We look forward to partnering with you to help bring an end to hunger in Northwest Arkansas!

Food Fight 2015

The Full Circle Pantry is excited to announce a friendly competition with the University of Missouri’s Tiger Pantry. From January 20th – February 20th each pantry will collect food items and monetary donations for points – 1 point per pound of food and 1 point per dollar donated – to see which pantry can accumulate the most points! Student organizations, Greek organizations, staff departments, facility groups and other on-campus and off-campus partners are encouraged to hold food drives or consider financial donations to help us beat Mizzou! All food and donations will help to stock our shelves so that we can continue to serve our campus community. Thank you for your support! Go Arkansas, Beat Mizzou!
Drop off food at the Full Circle Food Pantry during regular hours or at the Union Mall on Friday, February 6th and Friday, February 13th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

TriCycle Farms

Tri Cycle Farms, located at the corner of Sycamore and Garland Avenue, is a centrally located urban farm on the blue and red bus routes (free parking is also available at the Trinity United Methodist Church). The mission of Tri Cycle Farms is to “build community through soil,” and the nonprofit (via fiscal partnership with the OMNI Center for Peace, Justice and Ecology) is working broadly with other like-minded organizations in the region to strengthen food security. Tri Cycle Farms has ongoing “Farm to Table” programs, gardening classes, volunteer opportunities, chicken husbandry, herb walks, a composting system, and new plans to develop a farmer’s market with the Trinity United Methodist Church, which is directly across the street from Tri Cycle.

Contact Don Bennett at fayettevilletricyclefarms@gmail.com or 479-966-0572, or Joanna Pollock at jbperson@uark.edu or 708-828-5695 for more information about how to get involved or tour Tri Cycle. You can also find Tri Cycle Farms on Facebook.
