Academic News
Welcome Sustainability Students!
We’re ready to kick off an exciting new school year and we hope you are too. We’ve been hard at work all summer organizing ways for you to get involved in making our campus more sustainable. Between the Student Sustainability Council, the Sustainability Minor, workgroups, and more, there are opportunities for everyone to pitch in!
If this is your first time receiving one of these emails, welcome to the Sustainability Student Listserv! All students in the Sustainability Minor or any of the SUST classes receive these weekly emails during the school year to inform them of upcoming events, academic announces, and volunteer, job, and internship opportunities related to sustainability. If you have an announcement appropriate for the listserv, you may email it to sust@uark.edu for consideration.

Honors students will have the opportunity to interact with more in-depth material and tackle major issues facing the implementation of sustainable solutions in a weekly drill section. It is expected that an honors section of SUST 1103 Foundations of Sustainability will be available in the Spring.

Volunteer Opportunities
Game Day Challenge
Last year nearly 83% of all game day waste was diverted from landfills during the University of Arkansas’ v. Auburn football game. The University of Arkansas placed 8th in the nation and 1st in the SEC during the friendly competition. This year, we want to not only defend our title, but go on to take the overall prize, and take game day recycling efforts to every home football game. This can only be successful with major support from volunteers. As many as 20 volunteers will be needed for each home football game to help educate fans and sort recyclables.
