Creating a syllabus is an important part of teaching. The syllabus serves as a sort of contract between students and the instructor. It should clearly outline course requirements, expectations, and goals as well as include pertinent information regarding assignments, class and institutional policies, and grading. Crafting a useful and clear syllabus is an important skill. Luckily there are several well-accepted components of a syllabus that are common throughout most disciplines and universities.

Date Management Tool: Changing Due Dates and Availability for Multiple Items

When you copy a course from a previous semester, it is often time-consuming to go through and change the due dates or set the availability for assignments, blogs, journals, announcements, and other content items. Clickers: Manual Edits

It may sometimes be necessary to manually edit a student’s grades. This could be because they forgot their clicker and you allowed them to take their quiz or on paper or because of some other set of extenuating circumstances. It’s important to manually edit these scores within the TurningPoint software itself as opposed to inside of Blackboard to prevent the changes you make being overwritten.

OER: Open Educational Resources Funding

The deadline of February 15th is fast approaching for Faculty to apply for OER awards of $3,000 (for adopting open educational resources) and $7,500 (for creating open educational resources). Up to 10 awards are available. Open Educational Resources (OER) promote the use of textbooks and other materials for free or at a minimal charge.
