Using YouTube to Record and Publish video content. This step by step tutorial will show you how to record, publish, link and deleting YouTube videos.
It is easy to record video directly in YouTube or upload an existing video. You can do so from a desktop computer and from many mobile devices.

Sign up for a YouTube account
First, you must have a YouTube account. If you do not:
- Go to YouTube.com
- Click on the “Sign In” button.
- Click on the “Create an Account” button.
- Complete the form.
Record or Upload Video to YouTube from Computer
- Log in to your YouTube account.
- Select the Upload button at the top of the page.
- Select “Webcam capture” to record directly in YouTube or “Select files to upload” to upload an existing file.See list of acceptable file formats for upload option.
- Follow the prompts to record or upload.
This will take you to the Video Manager page for your new video.
Record to YouTube from Mobile Device
You can record video and publish it to YouTube from many mobile devices.
- Locate and install the YouTube app for your device (will vary).
- Open the YouTube app and follow prompts (will vary depending on the device).
- To edit, set privacy settings, etc., you might be required to access your YouTube video on a computer (see information below).
Title, Description, Privacy Settings
You will see an “Upload complete” message on the Video Manager page when the video has successfully completed.
- Enter a title for the video.
- Provide a brief description.
- If you want the video to be unlisted (will not be seen in search results, but a link can be provided for access), select “Unlisted” from the Privacy Settings dropdown list (the Private setting prevents anyone except the video owner from viewing the video).
- Complete any of the other optional settings desired (tags, category, etc.).
- Select the “Save Changes” button.
Link to YouTube Video
To obtain the link to your video, locate “Video URL” on the video page in the Video Manager or click on the thumbnail image of the video in the Video Manager and copy the URL from the browser.
Making Changes
If you need to make changes to the video settings or make minor edits:
- Select the arrow next to the Upload button.
- Select “Video Manager“.
- Select the appropriate option from the Edit menu next to the video (Info and Settings, Enhancements, etc.).
- Make your edits and select “Save Changes“.
Deleting YouTube Videos
To delete one of your videos:
- Select the arrow next to “Upload”.
- Select “Video Manager“.
- Check the boxes next to the videos to be deleted.
- Select the arrow next to “Actions”.
- Select “Delete” and follow prompts.
