From analyzing available studies, we know that people with disabilities are at increased risk for sexual and physical violence. Education is key in prevention.

The Safety and Abuse Prevention Training is a 10 week training course designed specifically for women with developmental disabilities. Participants meet for one hour twice a week over a 10 week period. The curriculum is a modification of the Effective Strategy-Based Curriculum for Abuse Prevention an Empowerment (ESCAPE) curriculum developed in New York.
