Outreach

In addition to teaching, Dr. Barraza-Lopez is involved in recruiting activities in coordination with the Office of Admissions,  the Multicultural Center, and the Honors College at the University of Arkansas, with a focus on enrollment and retention of minority undergraduate students. He was an academic advisor in the Physics Department (2017-2020) as well.

He is also part of an ongoing co-ordinated institutional effort dedicated to increasing the enrollment and retention of local students from the Marshall Islands.

The first event for prospective Marshallese students took place in early April 2016 and it was advertised on campus and on local media as well. Those events have continued after 2020, and below the reader can see Ms. Xochitl Solorzano (Honors College) and University of Arkansas Chancellor Charles F.
