Getting Started: Title, Tagline, & Logo
Although most sites are immediately given a title upon creation, you may want to go further with your branding, assigning your site a tagline and a logo. Logos are completely optional, but may appear to the left of your main navigation menu if you choose. This article shows the steps to amend or add a site title, tagline, favicon, and logo.
Step 1: Personalize Site Title, Tagline, and Favicon
Now that you have a site, you’ll want to personalize your title, tagline, and favicon (the small logo that appears when in the address bar of your site). If you are in the dashboard, go to Appearance > Customize. If you are on the front end of your site, choose “Theme Customizer” from the top menu.
Then, from the menu on the left, choose the section called “General Settings,” then “Site Identity”
The first item is “Site Title.” After you type in your unique title, you can also display an optional tagline, which gives your audience a little more information about your site. Below you can upload an icon. This is optional, but may be used as a browser and app icon for your site. Be sure to upload a square image here.
Step 2: Upload a Custom Logo (optional)
Finally, the last branding option is to upload a custom logo that will appear on your menu bar. Return to the dashboard and select the “Divi” item from the left sidebar. Under the tab labelled “General” you will see that you have the option to upload a custom logo.
Step 3: Where’s My Logo?
If you decided to add a logo, you might be wondering where it will appear. The default setting on new sites in the University of Arkansas WordPress network is to show only a title and tagline in the main navigation. However, if you would like to show the logo in that space, there are a few steps you need to take. First, navigate to the Dashboard and click on “Divi” to reveal the Divi Menu. Select “Divi Booster.” This is a plugin that gives added functionality to the theme.
At the bottom of the Divi booster click on “Header,” then “Main Header,” and uncheck “Show Site Title and Tagline in Header.”
Next select “Deprecated,” then “Divi 2.4” and uncheck “Hide Logo.” This should cause your logo to appear in your main nav.
If your logo still does not appear, navigate to your theme customizer and adjust your “Header and Navigation” settings. For more information on how to adjust this, please read the Elegant Themes documentation on Header and Navigation settings.
