The Student Sustainability Council RSO will have its first meeting of the Spring Semester this week. Elections will be held for new officers. All students interested in getting involved with sustainability activities on campus are encouraged to attend.

Bumpers College Bonfire & Departmental Canned Food Drive
Bumpers College is hosting a bonfire and canned food drive to benefit the Full Circle Food Pantry. Monetary donations will also be accepted, and the department that brings the most will win a prize for each student in attendance.

C2C Fellows Sustainability Leadership Training Workshop in NYC
The C2C Fellows Network at the Bard Center for Environmental Policy is a national program for undergraduates and recent graduates aspiring to leadership positions in sustainable politics and business. C2C offers intensive skills-based weekend workshops to young people from across the country. Graduates of these workshops join a national network with access to continuing educational and professional opportunities. C2C Fellows are leaders whose vision is to change the world. Our mission is to accelerate their life’s work.
The cost of the weekend trainings, including food is $30. Students must arrange their own housing in the NYC area.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers Needed for 2015 Census of Local Homeless Population
The Community and Family Institute at the University of Arkansas will conduct its biennial census of the homeless population in Washington and Benton Counties at the end of this month. A large number of volunteers are needed to ensure the success of this effort, which benefits the homeless by providing critical information needed in the planning and funding of services.
A short training session will be held from 6:00-7:30 PM Monday, Jan. 26, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on East Street in Fayetteville. Further information is available by contacting Fitzpatrick at kfitzpa@uark.edu.
The actual 24-hour census will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, and end at 11 PM Friday, Jan. 30.
UpStream Art Call for Artists
The UpStream Art program is seeking design submissions of artwork to be applied to local storm drains. The artwork should promote awareness of water quality and decrease pollution. Selected artists will receive a $400 fee upon completion of the project. Applications are due by February 4th.

Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce Internship
The Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce is looking for one or two interns for the Spring 2015 semester to assist in “revamping” its GreeNWAy Initiative, a voluntary certification system for Fayetteville businesses. Interns will conduct surveys of current GreeNWAy businesses and develop new materials tailored to the needs of different businesses.

TriCycle Farms
Tri Cycle Farms, located at the corner of Sycamore and Garland Avenue, is a centrally located urban farm on the blue and red bus routes (free parking is also available at the Trinity United Methodist Church). The mission of Tri Cycle Farms is to “build community through soil,” and the nonprofit (via fiscal partnership with the OMNI Center for Peace, Justice and Ecology) is working broadly with other like-minded organizations in the region to strengthen food security. Tri Cycle Farms has ongoing “Farm to Table” programs, gardening classes, volunteer opportunities, chicken husbandry, herb walks, a composting system, and new plans to develop a farmer’s market with the Trinity United Methodist Church, which is directly across the street from Tri Cycle.
