Departments and Organizations Can Now Host Zero Waste Events

The Office for Sustainability has launched a new resource to help any University of Arkansas department or organization host a zero waste event, one that diverts 90 percent or more of its total waste from area landfills through recycling or composting.

The sustainability office has developed a process for event planners to follow, with three simple steps: register, host, and report. Event planners can register at the zero waste events webpage to schedule the use of equipment from the office such as ClearStream recycling containers, scales and other materials available for checkout, free of charge.

The library will also be giving away a 4-chicken coop built by Jim Frisby.  To be eligible, you must attend this class and be present at the end of the program when we draw a name.  Please note: you will need to take the coop with you the night of the program.

TriCycle Farms

Tri Cycle Farms, located at the corner of Sycamore and Garland Avenue, is a centrally located urban farm on the blue and red bus routes (free parking is also available at the Trinity United Methodist Church). The mission of Tri Cycle Farms is to “build community through soil,” and the nonprofit (via fiscal partnership with the OMNI Center for Peace, Justice and Ecology) is working broadly with other like-minded organizations in the region to strengthen food security.
