Blackboard strongly recommends setting up a practice test using Respondus before requiring students to use the LockDown Browser for points. A small syllabus quiz would work great!
- To set up a test so that students must use the LockDown Browser you will click on Course Tools then Respondus LockDown Browser.
- Click the drop-down beside the exam name and choose Settings.
- Click the option Require Respondus Lockdown Browser for this exam. You can also set a password for the exam here.
IMPORTANT: Once you have set a password here do NOT modify the password under your regular Test Options. Changing the generated code found there will result in errors.
The exam needs to be ‘deployed’ in order for the students to be able to take it. Deployed means to link the exam from a student accessible content area within Blackboard. For information on how to make a test available check out the article: Make an Exam Available for Students in a Blackboard Course
Note: To preserve the settings used by LockDown Browser, do NOT modify these settings in Test Options:
- Name
- Open Test in a New Window
- Require a password
- Password.
If these settings have been modified the test status will appear as an “Error.” If you ever encounter any of these errors, click Fix It in the Respondus LockDown Browser Dashboard to repair it.
