Katie Beth – Great job on this assignment. The spreadsheet looked good and the answers are correct. Prof. Wells 10 of 10 points
An in-state student should expect to pay roughly $24,916 for the 2017-2018 academic year, according to the College Navigator National Center for Education Statistics. On the other hand, an out-of-state student should expect to pay $15,246 more, at $40,162 for the 2017- 2018 for the same academic year. According to the data, the category that experienced the largest percent change was books and supplies at a 25% decrease. However, the category that experienced the most raw change was out-of-state tuition and fees at a $4,008-dollar increase.
A potential lede for this set of data would be: UA tuition and fees have increased since 2014, nearly 14 percent for out-of-state students according to the National Center for Education Statistics.
To continue a story about the increase of fees over time, I would want to have some more information, data regarding scholarship information, the increases and decreases of financial aid over time, and I would also want to see the differences between the genders and races and how those factors affect the data. I would want to speak with the Office of the Registrar to see how these numbers affect enrollment, as well as see who I could talk to to see how budgets and the specific numbers are calculated on a yearly basis.
