My name is Sydney Richardson. I was born and raised in Plano, Texas, and while I hope I’m not one of those Texans that rambles on and on about how great Texas is, it does happen to be a bit more eccentric than most people stereotypically view Texas to be. However, I will say that growing up in Texas allowed me to grow accustomed to chips and salsa, BBQ, temperamental weather, saying “y’all” with a country twang here and there, occasional pretentious wannabe behavior (I’m talking to you Dallas), a peculiar liking to armadillos and longhorns, sweet tea (that’s basically syrup), Lyle Lovett, but absolutely without a doubt no liking to country music, because that’s just not my style. Besides those tendencies, I guess you could say I’m just like any other person, except I strive to broaden the horizons and expand my mind as much as I can each day. The way I see it, in each given year we are given 365 opportunities to do something great–and I wish to do just that. While comfortability is safe and welcoming, I try to push myself into situations that are uncomfortable at first, but later rewarding. All of this is easier said than done, but it’s something I’m working on to better myself. Currently I am 21 years old and a Senior at the University of Arkansas. In all honesty, I came to this university following my older sister because I had not a clue of who I was or who I wanted to be. Luckily for me, I have been discovering myself on this journey of academics, while also finding a place where I feel I belong. I am studying Journalism AD/PR in pursuit of an undergraduate degree, and would like to do something in the field of advertising, public relations, or writing. I am pushing to graduate in the fall of 2017, but we’ll see where the road leads me. My hobbies/interests include but are not limited to: photography, graphic design, writing, drawing, reading, outdoor activities, and exercise. I try to incorporate these hobbies into everyday as much as I can in order to improve the skills associated with each. My short term goals for now are to get an internship, graduate, and begin a career. My long term goals are to master my skills and hobbies, and to incorporate them into a career.
