Hello!

I am a senior here at the University, majoring in news/editorial journalism and minoring in Spanish. I’m from Little Rock, and attended high school at Little Rock Central High. I originally came in as a biology major and quickly realized it wasn’t quite what I had in mind. I changed from biology to political science, and after having a tough time with that, I chose the news/ed journalism path. I am very glad that I made the switch, and I would encourage anyone to truly find what sparks his/her interest even if it takes a couple of tries. It is better to be happy and confident for four years than absolutely miserable and unsure!

Through the Lemke Department, I have learned and gained experience in many aspects of journalism. My first semester in the department, I started writing  for the Arkansas Traveler. My main beat was the College of Engineering and I had the chance to write about many interesting things. I wrote for the Trav for one and a half semesters. In addition, I also had the opportunity to be apart of the Lemke Newsroom last semester. It was also a very valuable experience working closely alongside other young journalists and learning from Professor Jordan.

Through Lemke I have grown so much as a writer and have become more confident in my skills. I am excited to learn a new aspect of journalism through this class, and can’t wait for a great semester!
