My name is Rachael Krasnesky. I am originally from Fayetteville, Arkansas. My dad is in the Army and my family has also lived in Arizona, Texas, New York City, and West Point, NY. I have a little sister who just started college this morning. It’s awesome because I have taken so long to get my undergrad that now I get to be in college at the same time as my 17 year old little sister!
I have three beautiful children. Their names are Elliott, 6, Simba, 4, and Freddie, 3. All three are ginger felines. I like to post pictures of them on social media in a similar fashion to the way a lot of moms post pictures of their kids. My kids, however, are cute and fuzzy and I’ll never lose sleep over worrying if they’re practicing safe sex or not.
I am a senior in the news/editorial sequence of the Journalism department. I’m on my second bonus lap of senior year this semester. Don’t skip class, kids. I work for a third party logistics company in Lowell, Arkansas. I spend my days deciding whether trucking companies are going to get paid for all of the ridiculously expensive things they invoice for. I spent 5 months working for Walt Disney World for the Disney College Program. When my program ended, I changed my major to journalism in hopes of one day returning to Orlando and becoming a full time Disney Princess (the kind that works in an office in business casual clothing, not the literal kind).
In my free time I watch terrible horror movies with my boyfriend and fuzzy children. I am an avid true crime docudrama connoisseur. I like to knit and crochet but so far have only mastered horizontal lines and granny squares. I watch a whole lot of Supernatural, The BBC, and I read anything related to fantasy or sci-fi.
At this point in my journalism career, I have yet to write anything I want to claim as my “best story”. This semester, however, I would like to explore my writing skills and my interests for our enterprise story due at the end of the semester. I’d really like to explore mental health and women’s rights movements in North West Arkansas. I’m looking forward to stretching out and flexing my hard-news writing skills with all of our projects in this class.
