One of the main things that I noticed with the Missouri and Arkansas (formal names needed) data was that Missouri tuition is a little more expensive. In 2015-2016, the average (is it an average?) tuition for those attending University of Missouri out of state was $39,840. Out of state students at University of Arkansas paid $36,810.

Another surprising thing I noticed about the difference in cost was that room and board for Arkansas in 2015-2016 actually cost more than that of Missouri. It cost $9,880 at Arkansas, and $9,808 at Missouri. (good catch) In addition, it also cost Arkansas students more in the “Other” category. In 2015-2016, Arkansas students paid $4,104 in “Other” fees, while Missouri students paid $3,742.

Also, the “Gain” categories (the trend in price increases) between Arkansas and Missouri were significantly different. In 2015-2016, the gain for out of state tuition at Missouri was 2.89% while at Arkansas the gain was 7.52%. This is pretty much a tripled difference.(It is more than twice the rate at Missouri  2.89 * 3 = 8.67.) Overall, the data was a little surprising in some aspects, especially in the “Other” category. It makes me wonder what the “Other” stuff was that I paid over $4,000 for last year. Besides that, I pretty much expected Missouri to be overall a little more expensive to attend. I will say, though, that I expected it to be more expensive than what the data showed.
