With all of the fake information and far-fetched news stories that seem to appear on every social media site these days, the introduction as to why data journalism is important claims to be the answer to the predicament of making sure one’s writing is accurate. The old saying, “numbers don’t lie”, goes a long way in this case, as data journalism stockpiles lists and statistics based solely on the mathematical side of the story into every journalistic article, solidifying its words and proving its validity. Journalists in this day and age must learn to rely heavily on the numbers side of their included facts, as this is the only way for a very skeptical public to be at all convinced of their truth.
