- Donald Trump initiated a budget increase of over 7 million for VA affairs. The fiscal year began Oct. 1, yet Brian McaNally, who is in charge of VA housing for the Ozarks, has received no budget allocation information yet. How can we know how the increased budget will help the homeless veteran population in this area, where at least 37% of homeless veterans in northwest Arkansas experience chronic homeless and at least 92 veterans are homeless, according to data collected by Kevin Fitzpatrick. Will the increased budget help at all? Will it take a long time before we start seeing the benefits of a budget increase? What areas, aside from veteran homelessness, are in need of more funding?
- When looking over and analyzing staffing trends, where can people access details on staffing turnover in VA hospitals? If we know the reasons behind employees leaving, such as death, termination, transfers, etc., where can we find the exact numbers of employees who leave a job in a particular VA hospital? Is this information available to the public? Can you explain staffing turnover?
- Something that has always stood out to me is the fact that veterans do not automatically get offered full scholarships for college. After risking their lives for our safety, shouldn’t they be entitled to a free education so that they can get on a good path, and avoid ending up as one of the many homeless veterans in our country? Can you explain the reasoning behind veterans not receiving enough funding to cover their entire college tuition?
A lot of material here. Question 1 should be divided into a budget question and a homeless question.
Question 3 is not within the scope of the VA medical system
