Between 2014 and 2016, Veterans Affairs hospitals in Arkansas and surrounding cities admitted the majority of patients within 30 days. However, an average of 1 to 3 percent of patients waited at least 30 days for medical attention at hospitals in Fayetteville and Little Rock, Arkansas; Memphis, Tennessee; and Shreveport, Louisiana.

In Little Rock, 2.4 percent of patients waited at least 30 days for medical attention, compared to 1.37 percent of patients in Memphis. The hospitals in Fayetteville and Shreveport fell in the middle with 2.06 and 2.08 percent of patients waiting at least 30 days. During these years, more appointments were scheduled per month on average at the hospital in Little Rock than in other locations. Officials scheduled 44,437 appointments per month on average in Little Rock, 43,404 in Memphis, 31,947 in Fayetteville and 23,738 in Shreveport.
