Questions for the Reading Homework Due 8/29
- How can the use of percentage data be distributed in a story effectively so that the reader can understand the context of the numbers?
- Is it acceptable to use numbers when talking about money considering that inflation can cause currency to change value? For instance, The Color of Money was written in 1988 so when it discusses the under appraisal of homes it can be difficult to understand the disparity between different neighborhoods.
I want to better understand the question #1, so let’s discuss in class.
As for #2, yes, absolutely we adjust for inflation in our stories, and we will be doing that in class. And a good point here, since inflation was definitely still more of a factor when these stories were written.
