Something I found interesting about the data dictionary was all the different ways data can be presented. Even though, at times, data can be displayed in a fairly simplistic way it is, evidently, still far more complex than what’s on the surface. In addition, the data dictionary showed how many ways someone could put together data. This is cool to learn because, depending on your data, you could portray it in different ways using these different tools described. Understanding the data dictionary will help users organize data in a more efficient way. And, assuming the reader is well-versed on the data dictionary, it would be easy for them to read.

As for the 10 Common Mistakes in Data Reporting, I found Nos. 2 and 4 interesting. I didn’t know there were so many different file types for the representation of data. And, its a different viewing experience for each different file type. I would be interested to see all these different file types in action. Also, I found it interesting that, even though data is carefully organized, it’s still unintentionally not laid out for spotting trends. I thought this was strange because I thought the way it’s organized is so the big trends are easily seen. However, like I’ve already learned, the sort feature on Excel can solve this issue.
