What is the Tunable Thrust?

The tunable thrust focuses on multifunctional, nanostructured, bioinspired surfaces with tunable properties, similar to the color change of a chameleon due to relocation of pigmented nanogranules. These tunable surface properties have the potential to be used for the development of “smart” optics with a tunable color and refractive index, as well as the sensors for ultrasensitive detection of radiation, toxic pollutions, and individual molecules and cells.
